In her very first pageant competition, Savannah Brown, a freshman from Wray, won the Ms. ABAC 2010 title in the 41st annual contest at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Sponsored by the men's tennis team, Brown is a Citizens Christian Academy graduate who is majoring in science. She is the 19-year-old daughter of Wes and Kim Brown from Wray.
“Right before the curtain went up, I said to the girl next to me, ‘what am I doing here?’ Brown said. “I was in total shock when I won. I didn’t believe it.”
Brown serves as treasurer of the ABAC Ambassadors at ABAC, a prestigious leadership organization on the campus. She commutes 45 minutes to the college each day.
“My family is a very high priority in my life,” Brown said. “To be able to stay at home and still go to college is very important to me. God has blessed me so much.”
The blue-eyed blonde said serving as Ms. ABAC will give her new opportunities to reach students and tell them about ABAC.
“I want to be able to draw more students to ABAC,” Brown said. “It is just such a wonderful place.”
Brown is active on the campus of ABAC serving as an Ambassador, where her duties include weekly campus tours, hosting ABAC Stallion Days, and promoting the college through various activities. She loves spending time with her family and friends, leading her church youth group, and playing tennis.
She plans to obtain her Associate of Science degree and then transfer to a university to further her education, pursing a degree in optometry. In addition to her educational aspirations, she has a passion to serve others. She hopes to continue to mentor teenage girls as well as be involved in missionary work.
